Rick O'Neal----Bass Player/backing vocals Rick O'Neal is a bass player from just outside of Boston Massachusetts. Formally trained on guitar at UMASS Lowell, half way through he switched to bass, and that has been his primary instrument since. Leaving school to record and tour with a newly forming band, Rick found himself as a full time musician by age 19. His first big break was playing with brother Charlie O'Neal for "Orr", the Ben Orr (formerly of The Cars) solo band. After a couple of years of touring, the band came off the road, and Rick moved on to other things.Ben Orr later passed away from pancreatic cancer. Rick later joined the Johnny A. Band (www.johnnya.com), and toured extensively for two years, opening for George Thorogood and B.B. King several times, as well as Etta James, Peter Frampton, The Iguanas, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and many more. Rick also appears on all 12 tracks of the Favored Nations release "Get Inside" by Johnny A.. After recording "Get Inside" he moved on to a local up and coming band, the EGB (Evan Goodrow Band)(www.evangoodrow.com), a Funk and Soul force to be reckoned with, where Rick found himself working the New England and east coast scene constantly, and helping to raise the profile of this energetic quartet, again opening for greats such as B.B. King, Peter Frampton, and many more. After three years, Rick and brother Charlie got to talking about playing together again, and joined this blues "side" project called "The Generators". This "side" project caught on like wildfire, and soon took over the lives of 4 people (Jeff, Craig, Rick and Charlie). Joined by an undeniable chemistry, these four players soon quit other music projects they were involved in to make room for what was re-named the "Delta Generators". Rick O'Neal's bass playing has appeared on countless albums, across many genres. |
